You are probably cooked I’m not even gonna lie. Are you taking out loans to pay? And will this liquid amount be covering rent payments?
Agreed
Had a full scholarship at NYU and yet ended up spending about 60k for a 2 year MBA . Suggest you take student loan. If you don’t have scholarship suggest you sell a kidney
Got a 60% scholarship and had $120k saved (excl. 401k). Took out loans for the other 40% of tuition and budgeted to make the $120k last me 2 years including rent, extensive travel, and discretionary purchases.
~$200K but that was 10 years ago. Also received $60K in scholarship. This was 10 years ago so cost was lower and I didn’t have to take out any debt. Looking back, I think 100K would have been fine. $30K feels a bit low unless you have a way to generate income while you are studying
Highly depends on your lifestyle, but $30k is low even for the bare minimum. I’d shoot for 50k as a starting point.
Even if you’re not going on MBA ski trips or outings, you will still want to factor in MBA “essentials” such as travel for recruiting, food and alcohol as MBA programs are highly social, and probably some wardrobe updates during school.
Do you have scholarship money? And are you planning on continuing to work at all during your MBA? Honestly 30k won't go that far in NYC, as I'm sure you know. But if you keep working, that oculd be a good back up. You should get your company to pay for the degree, mine did!
Is that what you are paying for school with as well or are you taking out loans? If that is all you have then its going to be really tough to stretch that in New York to make it work, not gonna lie to you.
