How normal is it to ask for a billable hour expectation in writing in the contract? Just did an interview and they kind of waffled on the question and ultimately settled on 1800 is a reasonable goal to expectation, but there’s no hard requirement. Just wondering if it would be kind of abrasive to ask them for that in the contract rather than risking getting there and they play games with the number. It’s a commercial lit boutique

So is the fixed amount my gross salary without any other deduction except TDS, or will the organisation contribution to PF be also deducted from the fixed component? Also, will claimable components like LTA, mobile bill reimbursement etc. be in addition to this fixed component or will they be included in it?

It is in appropriate to ask what the compensation for a position is after a first interview if they want you to go on three more and the interviewers on my first told me that was above their pay grade to tell me?????

Advice on managing up / enduring toxic deal teams? I’m at the point where my stomach drops any time I see something come in from certain people. I’m so bad at writing the background/ facts section for briefs… it always gets heavily edited and no one is giving me constructive feedback other than “advocate more”. In contrast, my legal argument section is generally without edits. For context, first defense lit job post appellate clerkship. Is this normal?? Any tips for getting better other than “advocating more”?
