Be prepared to talk a lot about your proposal work / business development experience. Go into the interview with the mindset that you’re bringing deals in and deemphasize execution/delivery experience.
I’d go as far as stating what your actual sales/managed revenue stats are and if you have none then qualify them as unofficial I.e you were on the sales team but didn’t receive official credit since directors have sales targets and managers do not
SM / Director roles are typically heavily sales roles, so if you can show that you can drive sales but most managers have not delivered significant sales and it’s an uphill battle to develop a network from scratch when switching firms (need to be pulled into pursuits, understand the ways of working, who to pull in). Alternatively if you have expert domain knowledge then you can come in through the specialist track but for those type of roles most firms are looking for significant years of experience. In short very unlikely to switch firms and get a promotion within Big 4 circle. Might be better to go to a boutique / lesser known firms if you’re after title

But can you be a light manager though?
