I have a 636 middle score and I have not been able to be approved automated or manually. I have received refer with caution, but the former lender I used can’t see what’s causing it in the system.

Hugh Hefner: was he a catalyst for a sexual revolution or did he just make the porn industry more acceptable? Did his impact help or harm the objectification of women in the US? Thoughts?
I got hired as a freelancer on a project. 2 days in and we’re off to a slow start getting access to what I need. It’s paid hourly. I blocked out time to work a full day knowing I’d dive right in but that’s not how it turned out. My question is do I bill the full day even though I only put in a few hours of kick off calls and contacting folks to get access to the things I need? It’s not my fault they were disorganized. What would you do?
Am I the only one who hates when people talk about black history and show images of black people and, instead of saying black, say POC? This is erasure.

How do you evaluate things like “culture” in a law firm interview? I’m at a mid-size firm and I love small my team (& my low billable hours requirement), but at the firm & department level things have become really toxic. I’m interviewing at some bigger firms, but I’m terrified of landing somewhere with an awful team with 0 WLB. This was my first job out of law school, so I don’t really know how to scope out red flags in an interview. Any recs?
Is $100k reasonable for a 3rd year family law attorney at a prominent firm in a big market?
Are trial court clerkships a good way to get litigation exposure? I have minimal responsibilities outside myself and could afford to live on the peanuts they pay judicial clerks in pa for a year or two. It's something I kinda wanted to try although I'm about two years out. I currently work in a legal adjacent job bc I got fired and was wondering if judicial clerkship would be a way to help employers overlook that. Any former trial clerks here? Was it beneficial? Depends on goal or judge?
If I started a lawsuit everytime a client or another lawyer called me "sweetheart," I'd probably have to start my own company because there'd be nowhere left for me to work
Suppose my hypothetical AssociateOP, LLP firm had a revenue dip in April and May, but we got things back up and running again and made bank in 2020, so our revenue and profit was about the same as in 2019. Would a "sorry there was a pandemic, no bonuses this year even if you made hours" fly with associates or should the firm be honest about its numbers?
Hey I'm exploring different attorney careers. Title attorneys what do you like about your job? Not like? Ideal personality type for job?
Plaintiffs side (L&E), what do you do when you get a new client in terms of file management? How do you organize information? Do you make a document summarizing the strengths and weakness of the case?
Do any of my fellow criminal defense attorneys feel like they were in a completely different profession than 98% of the attorneys that you know who do civil or transactional work? I read the posts about billable hours and the cost of litigation etc... I am here getting flat fees that range anywhere from a couple hundred dollars to many thousands of dollars. I am constantly chasing the bad payers on a payment plan but it seems 1000 times better than a billable hour.
Anyone ever get their head bit off by a partner and got cut off from their work, but ended up better off for it? Tell me your story. I need it.
Is anyone paid a percentage of the billable hours they bring in from clients they bring in. My firm pays me as a “1099 eat what I kill” wonder if this is done anywhere else?
Good morning everyone, I’m a young associate and I changed practice areas from PI to family law. I’m about a year in but work is getting slow and the clients are starting to really bother me. My coworkers are constantly worried about stats and it’s hard for me to get that mentorship/practical advice with my cases. I’m worried I’m burning out and that this practice area isn’t the best fit. Any advice or do I have to push through? (Contd)
Niche question for my healthcare folks - do you see any HIPAA or other liability issues for a hospital who discusses and discloses an employed physician’s PHI, but only under the umbrella of confidential peer review? And in furtherance of quality of care? Think peer review committee/MEC discussing whether an aging doc is mentally fit to practice. Off the top of my head I tend to think this is ok but would appreciate any input from those with a healthcare background.
I’m not sure if this is new but apparently employers can now respond to reviews on Glassdoor? A response to one of mine was laughable but curious if anyone else has seen this or if this is something they’re just rolling out.
All my friends make fun of me because I make just as much money as them (or less) as an attorney, while they all only have undergraduate degrees or no degree at all. How do I make more more money as an attorney without going into BigLaw?!
