One of the tech trans partners in West Coast retired last year I think. You might be able to find her on LinkedIn. She seems to be active on that platform for her pro bono / social justice advocacy. She might be happy to chat with you.

Is tech trans busy rn?

I assume there's a need if they're hiring

How is GDC transactional overall?

So I accepted an offer back in mid March but I didn’t negotiate it up and now I’m regretting it, because apparently you’re supposed to. I got a much higher salary than expected and a sign on bonus, and it’s been a while since I accepted the offer, and the start date is later this year…. Is it too late to ask for a bit more though? If not, how do I go about it?

I hate Kirkland for what they did to me. Got laid off due to intra-firm-politics at a point in my career where I don’t have enough experience to lateral, when the market is so bad for corp/M&A that even with experience getting hired isn’t likely with a Kirkland stain on the resume, during the holidays when getting interviews or even screeners is just as unlikely, and all of this without any warning at all. Recruiters can’t or aren’t helping. I don’t know what to do, but this is a nightmare

Real talk. Are you all the ones buying $188.00 hiking pants, $72.00 merino wool t-shirts, $45.00 COTTON t-shirts, and $179.00 10 oz steaks (2 pack)?

I received a targeted email ad from Huckberry, which I like, but the stuff is really expensive. Maybe I'm just too elder millennial, or not hipster enough... But this ad got me worried that I am saving too much by not spending all of my disposable income on hiking pants. Should I defer student loan payments?

For those of you at these firms giving associates base salary raises, what are your billables like? I’m trying to decide if now is the time to lateral from a lower AM 100 up.

I applied for a lateral job in a growing group that doesn’t have associates yet. I talked to a sr. associate in a different office/group to get a better sense of the firm’s vibe and we both really enjoyed our call. He kindly offered to recommend an interview to HR. Is there anything else I can do? I would be switching practices altogether so I want to be as proactive as possible to know what I’m getting myself into (and make my app more favorable because I really want to break into the field).

So I pulled an all nighter on Monday to do this thing, spend Tuesday like a zombie (and I had 5 calls!!!) then on 6PM the senior reviewing my work came back with comments that I needed to turn “ASAP”. I was so tired I just said I would not because I needed to sleep. I sent them today at 1:30 PM.
Would you get mad if your mid-level/junior did that? I’m all for pulling all-nighters and billing but everything has a limit.

Now that the craziness of 2021 is firmly in the mirror, what is your class year and when do you normally stop working at night, on average? For me 6 to 7 is the average. Have to wake up at 5 or 6 a.m. one or two days a week to make that happen though and it may not last through Q4..
