Wanted to highlight Prudential Financial’s hiring practices. They rescinded my offer once I attempted to negotiate the salary. The official reason given was that I didn’t “sound excited enough”.
They then admittedly gave the offer to someone who was less qualified. There were other red flags throughout the job offer process that the HR team should overall be ashamed of.

Since all team members are performing well, I would use objective business criteria rather than personal judgment. I would evaluate employees based on future project relevance, critical skill sets, versatility, performance history, and business impact. I would apply the same criteria consistently across both teams, document the rationale, and coordinate closely with HR and leadership to ensure the process is transparent, unbiased, and aligned with organizational needs.
