Amazon does hire attorneys with breaks in their resumes. However, it is known to be a sweatshop with an aggressive layoff culture.
I would talk to recent alumni at the firm and apply as a referred candidate, if you choose to proceed.
They are going to hire a smart person to fill whatever job they need. This could be great for someone who likes learning new areas. However, Amazon is a sweat shop and imo tend to hire folks with certain credentials. You should ultimately try though if you want to give it a go. :)
So, I have interviewed with Amazon. And, what I notice about the people they hired is 1. Big law experience or 2. Worked at a huge company. Before I went into big law I worked in house. They never looked my way until I started working in big law. I am at the point in my life where I am willing to work for less pay then to be at Amazon. Amazon is my LAST resort. They have asked me to come back and interview for several roles after I went through an 8 hour+ interviewing process. If you really need to go and want to give it a shot, by all means try. I have biases due to having friends work at Amazon. I also didn’t like the people I interacted with in the process

Amazon roles are hyper competitive. I would be shocked if you’d be a fit for one of those roles but you never know.
Pro
Comp and brand-name “prestige”. I think they hire from biglaw primarily.
