I see many people have shared the pros and cons!
I think Tcs is one of the best companies and I would have never thought of leaving but then salary expectations arent meeting and its the same for every fresher who joins the IT company and hasnt switched.
Definitely it all depends on the project and we shouldn't always look at the dark side. I havent learnt much here in 5 years but all that I have learnt is from TCS. I did mechanical Engineering and now after 5 years I have resigned for another company. Its all about salary. Politics is there but if you are really interested to work and you respect people around you, you are going to get it all back in some or the other way. And also, its not always money that matters, wlb, insurance policies, onsite opportunities, family and friends also matter and in TCS i used to get everything. I have heard that thats how is the life in @Infosys too.
I know its a debatable topic as life is a game of perception and I tend to see the brighter side. Feel free to put in your comments.
Yes there r many ways to reskill. But getting project may be difficult. Managers will surely prefer outsider with more relevant experience
With my 14+ of experience with similar companies, I am telling you -
1. Politics is part and parcel of any organisation. It's not always bad.
2. Every project is learning as these are real value creation for customers. TCS has the best customers and projects among all other IT service companies.
3. Make sure you push for a rotation every 3 years and try to work for a new domain and technology if possible. That's key for learning.
4. With the reference to some of the comments above, Let me tell you, delivery unit leaders must be and should be deciding factors for most of the items as they the are ones talking to customers. HR will only work with leaders and try to enforce the organisational policy.
I am leaving too just because of the pay disparity in Mindtree and joining TCS. I guess politics is everywhere. It shouldnt bother you if u dont plan to stay in the company forever.
I believe if you feel you are not being valued leave and in the meanwhile gain skill and experience until u find a company worth staying longer.
How is mindtree for C3 level? I heard work life balance is good in mindtree but hike is less.
How much TCS offered you for AST role?
Why managers prefer outsiders with more salary rather than giving preference to existing loyal employees? My friend told because it helps to save tax, as they show huge amount in employee hiring cost. Is it true?
WITCH companies take advantage of country’s poverty, they just want to mint money by underpaying their resources
TCS is a step down for you if you are joining from Infosys
In simple words don't join TCS
I don't think there is any problem joining TCS. If you are getting desired salary.
I would like to know more about the work culture at TCS and onsite opportunities. I know it differs from project to project but what is the general opinion?
True, if you are lucky enough you will get some good project and team but if not they won't even release you. Many of my friends left due to this. Politics is most obvious but many people are master in stealing credit.
If you keep money factors aside, TCS is better than Infosys. Most important pros in TCS are, work life balance, job security. Also lot of onsite opportunities here but either you'll have to become managers favorite or perform extraordinary to get it.
Don't join tcs . If salary is your concern. Join some product based company earn money.
I am also from Infy recently joined tcs..no much difference I found here.. almost same
How is the learning platform and re skilling opportunity? Similar like infy?
Rising Star
those who are loyal with tcs ..they pay them peanuts..
good projects are rare ..you might get if luck favours..or else once you are inside project then no one will help to get release from the project.
no matter whether the project is IT or BPO you never get release.
All these things you mentioned are only verbally promised but never actually given…
Since so many people from TCS are here, I wanted to know if Wipro would be a better option in front of TCS?
Is Newgen is good company to join.
Can you bring me some pros/cons bro?
Being an ex-tcser, I would advise not the join TCS if you are looking to grow further in your career. In case you are willing to settle down with TCS as your final destination and willing to take a hit on technical exposure then TCS might be a good option.
