I am self taught in SQL and Python. Was a Business Analyst on a data migration project and did a lot of SQL and Python to query data, test data transformation code and even write a lot of script that the dev team ended up using in databricks in pyspark. I really want to get into data science and or data analysis in the industry but I have little to no formal education or work experience to put in a resume but I am more than competent at it. How do I break through? I’m 35

Are you currently working? Volunteer to do a related project internally or even pitch it as a gracious act for a client. Get the experience on your resume and it’ll get you that much closer.

If you did that in a data migration project then that’s work experience you can put in your resume

If you want to be data scientist, I suggest you polish your statistics skills. Data science is not just coding but a lot of statistics, and ever more if you are talking about machine learning or even AI.

Some tech companies also value projects you’ve done. Not just corporate projects but your personal projects. Try to build a GitHub repository and start your personal data science project. When you apply for a role, you could also attach your portfolio. I honestly think this might be the best and the only way.

Move from SAP practice to Ivalua ? Good or bad career move (7 years experience in SAP )

I've been in manual testing for 80% of my career. Despite attempts to transfer into a more code-centric role, I never got the opportunity to do so. Now that I'm in a management role, I feel like it's too late to enhance my programming skills.

Suppose I want to transition into a developer role, will self-study be sufficient for passing the necessary requirements for coding jobs? Lately, I've been learning python and using what I learned by solving problems at leetcode.

Ideas please:

I’m inheriting a “team” of siloed strong individual developers who are on different work streams and are very jaded and struggling with motivation. Most are contractors. They have legit gripes about the client, but I won’t be able to solve those without getting cross-discussions going with knowledge-sharing across our “team“. Any suggestions for remote team-building that won’t just be shrugged off with cynicism, or worse, ignored?
