I am thinking of leaving my stable full time job for a contract position (ongoing with no time frame) for a bigger raise (making an exra $20/hour) with a large tech company. I'll still get benefits through Aquent so it's not a huge loss. It just feels risky in terms of being a contractor and the potential for it to end at anytime. Seems like a good opportunity though to get my foot in the door and potentially apply for full time jobs later on

1) Take transition & seriously prep for product roles in big tech (risk - might miss out on visa cycle)
2) close to conversion - Sr Manager, Corp strat at a high-growth tech firm (same $ as C2, some nego power but might land between C2/ PL $ even after any equity - bottom line, not a stellar opportunity, but entry into tech and possible mobility to prod)
3) Take PL promotion & continue looking for product roles

Is it possible to feel valued as a junior associate? I do not feel valued and it’s disheartening because I work hard, make sacrifices, and generally do good work. One year at this firm. No feedback, no bonus, no raise (and no discussions), hardly any mentorship or direction on files. Wondering if my feelings are justified or if I should expect this since I’m just an associate.

Thoughts on using 401k to pay for down payment / closing costs on a house? I know it’s normally a huge no-no, but it’d take me 2 years to save enough cash in my market, and I plan to house hack so I’d be able to pay myself back in 1/4 the time it’d take without using it and allow me to start my FI journey way quicker (but terrifying to think of actually doing it). I do have a cash emergency fund. Pros and cons, and anyone who has done this. Thanks!!
