Currently working at Perforce Software in Minneapolis as a writer making 70k. Was offered a job to be a writer at Amazon Alexa for 95k plus 11k sign on and shares.

Here’s the catch: the job was listed as fully remote but now they’re asking if I’d want to move out on the West Coast…not a requirement but they really sound like that’s their ideal.

My husband will be relocating to NYC for his job which is where I want to go…working West Coast hours in NYC sounds kind of awful. BUT I really don’t

Howdy Folks! Looking for a mid-to-senior level producer (specifically with experience in post production coordination) for a 2-3 week contract starting the w/o 7/18. The job is fully remote, however west coast (PST) hours preferred. You'd be working at a great agency in LA for a telecomm client's OLV edit. Need someone organized as there are a decent amount of deliverables.

For the last four weeks or so of WFH I’ve been making it to my desk around 7:30/8am and working basically without a break—lunch at desk- but cannot maintain momentum past like 6:30/7:30pm. Most of the day is billable work, but I cannot bring myself to finish outstanding assignments after 8pm, but then feel so guilty when I’m not working past that time. Am I burnout or fucked up? (Also I hate this gig & am not in it for the long haul, just hate not turning things quickly)

How much savings should you have after making a down payment on a home? Fiancé and I, both 26, are thinking of accelerating our timeline to buy a home given we’ll both be continuing to WFH indefinitely. We found a home we love, but it would require us to have less in savings than we’re comfortable with. Ideally we’d have a 3-6 month emergency fund leftover, but we’re not there yet, and covid is making us want to move quicker than planned. We’d be at ~1-2 months of savings after down payment.

Hi All,

TCS is asking its employees to "Return to office", which I cannot, due to some personal reason.
I tried talking to HR and my MANAGER, but no result.
So I decided to switch, and currently I have an offer from ACCENTURE, but they informed, for now I can work from home but that they cannot provide me permanent WFH and they are also not sure when will I be asked to join the office.

WHAT SHOULD I DO?
SHOULD I ACCEPT THE OFFER?

Approved by doctor/HR to remain remote and it’s not going over well( we were told we would remain remote, which included giving up our desks, but are now being asked to come in two days). The person who seemed the most annoyed by my request is my direct boss. I found it odd because she announced she was only doing one day because she was pregnant and the director was basically like “ok”. I don’t want to put a target on my back and I do enjoy the work. Should I just bite the bullet and come in?

What is the benefit is staying longer than 2-3 years at a firm when you can make more and still make partner when you hop around? I haven’t really seen a big downside other than having to learn the way the firm layouts work papers. This also assumes you go to a firm that uses the same tax software and potentially same practice management and document storage software.

Does the answer change if the person has no desire to become partner?

Hey folks, I work in marketing and program management and, along with everyone else, the recession is hitting me hard financially. When I try to find companies that pay well, they’re all in tech… but all those companies are laying off, freezing and rescinding offers (had one rescinded myself) 😕 so my question to all of you - what industries/sectors are still in demand for marketers/program managers right now that actually pay well?

I work for a large, legacy technology company that hasn’t been faring so well lately. I have a fantastic manager who cares about my growth, a supportive team, I’m well compensated...but I don’t believe in the product that I have to sell.

Based on stock prices, press, and exec turnover, I don’t know what to do. There are more positives than negatives but it’s hard to be inspired (or confident) much lately. We are a decade behind newer tech companies

Been at company many years and rebuilt dysfunctional team into high performers while also driving huge metrics and impact. Over the last few months my job work load has increased to helping more teams and I have been brought on to be a major voice on a product transition (I am one of three non managers helping make the decision and have more responsibility on the project then half the managers. Anyone have any advice on how to make the transition easier?

Currently making $75k, which is very low compared to my counterparts. However, in February I’m supposed to get a salary adjustment with my yearly review. I got a job offer for $120k-150k which I turned down cuz I want to stay at Adobe.

How/when do I use this to leverage a good salary adjustment in Feb?

Dont want to spread too much, but what do I do if I feel that I will be let go by my 90 days? I currently dont have anything lined up, but want any advice so I dont have a lapse in income, and can stay in social media/marketing as I made a career change into this.

Is this new job DOA? I’ve been in my new role 6 weeks after interviewing extensively and getting 5 offers and thinking back on those offers I turned down. I picked this company bc I liked their product and the manager, but I’m already feeling 1. REALLY silo-ed . Not a collaborative environment (even though I’m perfectly capable of doing my own thing.)Like I have entire days I don’t talk to anyone 2. Can’t seem to get my boss’s attention on my priorities that truly should be huge company issues

I have been offered a lateral move within my company to a role I (believe) I will be more interested in that will suit my skills more. However, I’ve now been offered a promotion in my existing Role, and have heard that this is a pretty big deal and almost fast track to Director. Am I mad to pass up a promotion for a lateral move that is unlikely to promote me for some time?? I’ve been in my existing role almost 2yr. Will it affect my future growth? I’m 30 so would love to be a director soon

Questions about job hopping-
My average tenure at a company is ~1.5 years (with ~11 YOE), but each jump I've made has yielded progressive/tangible career growth.

I'm concerned after my most recent jump (went from a product director to a head of product position at a different, smaller company after only a year) that I've kind of poisoned future career prospects at larger companies.

Any insights on whether this type of job hopping is a complete deal breaker for potential HMs?

Just got let go from my second agency job in six months because of client budget cuts. Anyone got any advice for moving to client side??

How do you politely decline a third interview at a company or an offer?

After my first initial interviews I realized the responsibilities are that of 3 marketers & I’m not interested in getting a job that’s set up for failure.

I don’t have another offer lined up but I also don’t want to waste their time continuing to pursue me as a candidate.

I recently made the switch from industry finance to consulting and I’m struggling to find my place within the role. I was brought on as a Sr.Associate and I feel like I’m not producing at the same level as those below me. I’ve been told that my focus probably needs to move from producing deliverables to guiding/leading those who are producing deliverables. It’s really throwing me for a loop here and I just want to know if this guidance for a sr. associate makes sense in the consulting world.

I am thinking of leaving my stable full time job for a contract position (ongoing with no time frame) for a bigger raise (making an exra $20/hour) with a large tech company. I'll still get benefits through Aquent so it's not a huge loss. It just feels risky in terms of being a contractor and the potential for it to end at anytime. Seems like a good opportunity though to get my foot in the door and potentially apply for full time jobs later on

In desperate need of referrals/recommendations for a reverse recruiter or headhunters that work for job seekers rather than employers. I’ve been job searching and interviewing for 2 years now and I can’t take it anymore! I don’t know what I’m doing wrong, the most it’s taken in the past was 5 months to get a job. I’ve spent money on resume services and a career coach so I’ve also invested money that’s landed me nowhere. I can’t think of anything else to try 😔
