A reminder that there is a section in Glassdoor to review how a company’s interview process went. Please give them hell for the sake of human dignity in general 🙏
I interviewed with Coalition and went through, not lying, 7 interviews before getting passed up for another candidate! It was insane!
Oh wait, I just realized Coalition Technologies and Coalition are two different companies. My bad! But still, sorry you are being asked to do all that work. It should be illegal to require so much labor during the job application process.
Geez this is RIDICULOUS! I'm sorry. I'm also looking but I'm not doing any of this..
Same here a couple years back. Scammers. I’m sure there’s a Reddit thread somewhere about this.
I've began to dread/loathe design tests when applying for companies. There was one time where I applied for a design position for a university in my town. They asked me to complete a design test that pretty much took up my entire weekend to complete. Only for them to ghost me entirely after I submitted my test to them. This kind of stuff really is predatory and needs to be stopped.
I only ever did one, which felt degrading in the end. Now I see them as a bad sign of a company making you do all the heavy lifting, to make their job easier. We have portfolios we pay monthly fees on apps, hosting services, and for many, overwhelming student loans, to prove our capabilities. Design tests are like making a meal for someone, and having them tell you if they will eat it or not based on the smell. That’s a never, for me.
Agreed. Utterly shameful and rude. I might have done the work, and then just posted it to your portfolio. Never give anyone the source. But even if you did, they don't have "you." The top two lines of samples on my site are work I did as part of the job hunt/interview process. So use them, if they use you.
Yesterday I had a screening and she said part of the process would be a test where I worked live on a project/problem while being observed by two others with a say in the hiring process. Today I was sent a rejection note. HA! Oh, and on the video screen, I could clearly see her head bobbing up and down. I immediately connected she was on an exercise bike. Seriously?
