I applied for a job at Google, but thought it would be unlikely they would even get an interview. I am not a typical FAANG candidate (older, remote, mostly experience with small companies, no internal referral, etc.) and worry I am wasting my time with these interviews. Does anyone have any advice or recommendations? Especially if you interviewed as an atypical candidate at Google and other FAANGs.

Listen, if Google is scheduling interviews with you, you did something right!

My best advice is do what you’re doing - preparing for the interview - but also as you ask questions during the interview - learn what you can, glean insight from what they want - so if you don’t get the job, you’ll know what to improve on so you can get the job.

That said, have fun, learn and shoot your shot.

Visa Sponsorship UK - Operations, CS, Recruitment

Hey everyone,

I may be relocating to the UK for a role after the new year, but my wife won't be able to come with me initially.

However she's just been laid-off from her Ops Management role for a tech company in the EU and needs a new role quickly. (just before Christmas!)

Would love if anyone has a role in Rome, Italy, or remote, or UK with Visa sponsorship (Tier 2 Skilled Worker) untill I can swap her onto a spouse Visa.

Any referrals?

Any quitted big 4 right after a year? I got delayed with good rating but with the reason of not getting enough experiences (I took 3 months study leave). I also got assigned to busy files and for 70% of my file I worked till 10/11. Since WFH starts I completely lost the boundary of work/life and got depressed.
I realized it's not the life I want and I got burned out and cried all the time. During COVID I realize it's hard to find a job... any suggestions? I can't hold on anymore

So, a recruiter gave me feedback that my lack SPHR or SHRM-SCP is causing my resume to be knock out by AI and human recruiters despite my position and work history in Multinationals and being in Technology. Need some advise! When I get asked what salary range a role is, I honestly don’t know how to answer. How we hire is based upon the interview process and tech screen. I’ve been telling candidates “the starting base for this role is x but is dependent on the interview” obviously they think what I’ve provided is what they’ll get. But that’s not the case - it’s more of you’ll get offered nothing less than x. I need help englishing to make it clear to candidates 🥲 TIA!

Need a suit recommendation in the $500-800 price range. I got a couple Jos A Banks suits tailored when I was an intern, and they served me fine for that purpose, but haven’t upgraded since because I hardly ever needed one. I’m not going to need a suit for office-wear anytime soon, but would like at least one nice, versatile suit for weddings and receptions, etc. My size has changed since college, so I’ll need to get measured. I’m not in a major city, but will be in Boston and DC fairly often.

I’m interviewing at EY bc my current firm has an awful culture & revoked its program to sponsor graduate studies. Also they didn’t give us our quarterly bonuses (pre-covid), year end, and didn’t promote any of current associates but proceeded to hire new grads at full salaries (during covid). EY didnt sell me on culture and said they don’t do enough and there probably won’t be much change for the next year. I’m thinking of taking EY’s offer but unsure bc It may be the same situation. Thoughts?

Thread: I’ve been talking to this company for months and the recruiter has been in and out with communication. A few weeks ago, he reached out, apologized for the delay and explained they needed to figure out role priorities but that they’re moving forward, I’m a top candidate, & they wanted to wrap up interviews and extend an offer the following week. He never reached out to set up interviews and hasn’t replied to any of my calls or emails.

So I was one of two final candidates for a position. I was not selected and was fine. What I do find issue was being told they loved me and still want to work with me. They referred me to one of their vendors - pay is 50k less and I would be working for the person I lost original position to. I am under the impression they do not realize how insulting they came off. AITA for saying below my salary expectations and not in line w/ career trajectory goals? Thanks but no thanks
