I approached my manager recently about a raise, I was told I am too young to be thinking about that level of compensation, despite handling responsibilities well beyond my job description and consistently receiving high performance reviews. It is frustrating to hear age used as a reason. Especially when my contributions are clear. Has anyone been in a similar situation where age was cited as a barrier to your salary progression? How did you handle it?

Presently working in EY as AM. Total YOE 6.2yrs. Got selected in Deloitte at Manager level. Please suggest the Compensation (range) that I may demand:
Present Package - 19.5L (fixed)
Variable - 10-15% (Would be pro rated to 8months)
Joining bonus - 1L
Not sure about variable payout but will have to let go off the joining bonus and hike for sure.
