I clerked for an ID litigation firm all through law school, then started with them on bar passage. I switched to another ID firm after a few months (2.5years total, including clerkship) but now the constant stress of meeting billables has me against a wall. I've not gotten much practical experience at either firm, so I'm afraid to move again.

What fields of law would you consider for someone trying to avoid an hourly billable req. with enough practical experience and variations in routine?

Has anyone tried to enforce a European non-compete/non-solicit (both foreign choice of law and venue) in the US? The employee moved with the company to the US 7 years ago and was never provided with an updated agreement. Assume for the sake of argument that the agreement is enforceable in the country of origin.

I can’t get over how meaningless my life is. I feel stuck in a dark tunnel with no light at the end. I don’t know what I’m doing in life. It’s overwhelming and makes me cry over every little thing. Is it too much to ask for me to just be happy in life? I’m 26 but I feel like this is all life has to offer.

Transactional associate. Lateraled 6 months ago and one of the biggest pain points has been my new firm’s inclination to “hop on a call”, which of course requires every single stakeholder to join. The end result being every call has 25 people on it and nothing actually gets done because no one wants to ask a question that could come off as silly. It’s destroying my ability to get anything done during the day. It’s a complete performance and it drives me nuts.
