Hi fish what your thoughts on ascend program which is happening in globallogic for 2.9 year experience, for me they are offering package of 7.3 lpa this is going to be the my first switch as per my current package they have given almost 70% hike also I also asked for same. When I see people of my experience getting 12-15 LPA It seems I have to consider other options also I am serving notice period. Please suggest. GlobalLogic

1. Literally no one is worrying
2. You can try setting some boundaries in the house with your kids
3. Companies shouldn’t have to pay for your home office renovation. It’s a privilege to be able to wfh, make the most of it.
I don’t think companies should be obligated for the unnecessary expenses that OP is requesting especially when it’s laying off thousands to cut costs.
Zoom virtual background or teams video blur. I just saved you a few thousand bucks.
Rising Star
Blur literally blurs the background so no one can see your house behind you, regarding your comment on decorations. No one could see your lack of decorations!
I live in <600 square foot one bedroom with my boyfriend. Same here. Only place I could potentially put a desk is the bedroom but then background of Zoom calls would be the bed. So instead my kitchen table is my office indefinitely cause it’s the only place I can control the background image when I’m working.
Same situation here
Yay if they want me to wfh full time they gonna have to pay me more so I can’t get a bigger place with a real office space instead of a plank on trestle in the side of my living room.

I've literally never heard anyone complain about someone's kitchen table or kids on a zoom call post-COVID.
We’re all in the same boat, if people are worrying about it they could probably use a little reality check. If you’re self conscious about it then you can always order a physical video backdrop or use a virtual one in Teams or Zoom.
If someone is judging you based on the adversities you might have, you may need to rethink about having such people in your circle.
This isn’t about the perception as you’re seeing. This is the perception of a single individual who is 24 years old living out of a suitcase in an empty apartment lol

Yep. Part of the Trump tax reform.
I miss the home office/ non-reimbursable business expense tax deductions...
OP I think you’re stressed about nothing. I live in a small apartment in NY with my husband and my office is the kitchen table with my back against the wall. I have to use headphones because speaker phone isn’t possible in the middle of our combined living room / kitchen. It sucks but most people are in the same boat. No one is judging you.
Who are these colleagues who care to comment on how your background looks? Lol
Literally no one cares
OP has someone at the company given you a hard time about having kids in the background?
They’ve been very clear about being very understanding of this situation that many (especially the older folks in management and up) find themselves in with multiple kids at home making noise, needing homeschooling and generally running around. I would reach out and talk to your next level up if someone is giving you a hard time about this. I can relate -I’ve had my preschooler suddenly scream at the top of his lungs while I was in the middle of making my point on a call, completely lost my train of thought 😄 But luckily I’ve never gotten even a whiff of any bit of criticism about my kid making sounds in the background. Everyone’s been understanding and that’s how it should be -if this hadn’t been the case for you please talk to your leadership about it.
As far as the kitchen table, as others have said, just blur the background or put a fun virtual background on.
People always find excuses to cry about something. First being on the road too much, now not having enough space to work at home. Figure it out, literally everyone else is.
