Coz I’m rich and I always get bumped to United F
Cause flying southwest sucks. I did the companion pass back when I was younger and our HHI was around $150. Now that it’s $400+ I just fly delta as much as I can
Agree CP is the best travel perk out there but it’s not easy to do anymore. You have to get lucky with the credit card offers at the time Plus I the deal with the 5/24 rule and not had sw card in past 2 years
Will always remain delta loyal. Plus my companion pass can be used in first class. And regardless I always get bumped to first class due to being Diamond.
Care to explain?
Open a SW personal card and a SW business card around the end of the year. Earn the bonus on the cards first thing in January. The bonuses vary, but generally the business cards have something around 80k and personal you can hope to get around 40k. If both are earned in January (meaning you hit the spend amount in January, you can spend in December leading up to it, just can't hit the total amount until after 1/1) then you earn those points in the current year. That gives you 120k points and you need 125k to earn the companion pass. Spend some more, get the last 5k points and now you have the companion pass for the rest of the current year and all of next year as well as over 125k points to use on flights.
My fiancé and I have been doing this trading off who opens the cards for the past 6 years, so basically we perpetually always have the companion pass and can fly anywhere southwest flies for the cost of one flight instead of two.
Southwest is booty buttcheeks; I’m a Delta/Alaska loyalist
I did it. Hardly used it. Then did it again. 5/24 wasn’t applicable bc I used a combo of business and personal cards. Worked great, loads of points, just never used the pass.
Love, AA loyalist.
I don’t do it because I’m single, almost always fly alone, and almost always go places southwest doesn’t fly to
It would have been great before kids. I’ll now wait to do it until they’re all in college.
