Hi Fellow BGM!!! I have a situation. Someone applied to my company and claimed to have graduated from an HBCU. In doing the background check it was revealed she did attend however she didn’t graduate. She’s an amazing talent and has great references. I followed up with her and she admitted she didn’t graduate but was desperate to get the job. I feel stuck. I could hire her and see how it goes but am I now setting a precedent for allowing this foolishness? What if she’s good? Need some advice.

I just had a 50% increase in compensation @ my startup. I’m super happy, but given the current market, I’m highly considering telling my CEO that I’m happy to go back to my old salary or even lower if that puts the company in a better position financially and strategically. Should I do it? What are the pros and cons? I make $135K and have about $1.5M in stock options.

I am a 25-year-old first year associate fresh out of law school at a small civil litigation firm. I went to a good law school and work hard. I’ve been in this position for about 5 months now and I keep messing up. Losing track of tasks. I have never felt dumber. Any advice? Should I be doing better at this point? I’m a licensed attorney!! I am a Analyst in my 30’s and everyone else that I work with that is a Analyst is in their 20’s fresh out of school. Have had setbacks in my career but trying to just stay optimistic and know that I will have better opportunities. I can’t help but feel embarrassed at times because of my age and the position I am in.

Had an employee give two weeks notice and then the day before his last day, ask if he could take back his resignation notice and stay in his role. Takes guts to ask, but feels like a burned bridge to me. What would you all do if this happened to you?
