Yikes that’s unfortunate. I also had a horrible make up trial. I gave her all the feedback in an email and she said she would make corrections. I unfortunately was locked into paying for her for the day of, so I decided to give her a second try since she reviewed the feedback and offered suggestions. My makeup looked better on the day of, but there were still things that looked a bit off to me (but I’m picky). It also took 30 mins longer than she budgeted. After she left, I was able to adjust a few things on my own but didn’t redo my eyebrows (my bridal party and both moms reassured me they looked good, so I didn’t modify them, but they look AWFUL in the photos lol. I should have changed them and not have listened to the fam.)
Some considerations: Will there be other people in the room when you get your make up done? Maybe talking among yourselves will prevent her from talking about her issues? Or bring a speaker and play your fav music! If you can’t get out of the contract, be very specific in what you want to change, and give yourself time to correct it (I know you shouldn’t *need* to correct her work, but it’s your face and you know it best). Hopefully your experience goes better than mine!
Thank you so much! Excellent advise. I’ll have enough people in the same room that can help me around and know better.
I did 2 trials of my makeup (not hair) because the airbrush makeup she did originally melted off my face in 10 minutes (do NOT do airbrush if you have oily skin or might cry a lot/get wet, it is only really ideal for dryer skin and not truly waterproof).
It was better the second time and day-of but still kind of wish I had done my own makeup or gone with someone else. She was nice and intent on making me happy but it took extra long on the day as a result which was stressful. The only thing I’m not good at is lashes but the rest of my makeup I like doing myself. She had to re-do half my face because I told her more concealer (on my one blemish that popped up after months of clear skin of course) and she didn’t listen and said it wouldn’t show when she was done (it did). Like no I don’t want that part of my skin to be natural! Also she did not use nearly enough product so my hair looked dry which we mostly remedied. It’s so hard to find people that understand curly hair!
If the vibes AND the finished product are off maybe switch to someone else but might be hard to find someone good at this point depending on your date.
Do a second trial with her!! Even if you have to pay it’s worth the money. It can be night and day difference once you tell them what you didn’t like.
No. It’s your wedding.
