I recently interviewed for L7 EM at Google and had 4 great interviews and one not so great system design. I submitted external referrals all of which gave great feedback. This happens all the time my friend. Such is the work life. All I can say is always be prepare for fast changes.
That’s why I don’t rush through projects anymore. Don’t be late, but getting it done early is a good way for more work and then still having to rush at the end because of something out of your control.
it could be on purpose. Only when there is fire, there is opportunity to demonstrate value.
I absolutely HATE when my boss does this. And she does it all the time. She is way too lax on things and then it becomes our problem when she waited until the last minute.

That situation is frustrating. When work finishes early but approvals stall, it can create artificial urgency later. Clear review timelines can help prevent that cycle.

I’ve had something similar where I finished the analysis weeks early but the review sat in someone’s inbox. Then when leadership suddenly asked for updates, it looked like the work was “late” even though the delay was in approvals. Since then I always keep a simple timeline of when things were submitted and waiting on review.
Sounds like you need a competent project manager
