I had three 12-hour nights back to back, and I feel like I got hit by a truck. How do you take care of yourself after a rough stretch? I know the basics, but I'm also wondering if anyone has something that actually makes a difference the next day. Thank you.

This post is giving me flashbacks to when I worked nights. It's brutal, especially when you get hit with consecutive shifts like that. The way I'd handle the day off would always depend on what I had coming the following day. If I was going back to work, I'd stick to my night schedule. Sleep all day, stay up the next night as if I was at work so the next shift didn't completely throw me out of whack. If I had multiple days off after working, I'd do my best to stay up the whole day so I could go to bed at 9 like a normal person and reset my internal clock.

Stay in bed for a solid day after that stretch. Makes a big difference for me, but I’d rather not lose a whole day in recovery either.
