I tried to convince myself for years that this is where I belong but I've only grown more resentment to every aspect of this industry. I can no longer pretend.
I really do hear you. I’ve been in it for at least as long. Not everyone but most of the people I’ve worked with have been pretty awful too!
By “manager” are you an agency account person? If so, you’d be perfect for client side.
Going remote helps. I've been doing it for 6 years and it's a whole lot better. You can switch things off pretty quickly. Having a bad work day? Just go downstairs to the kitchen and mix a drink. Walk your dog....

Go client side. It’s the only realistic salvation and I believe the only real way to have a future. Selling brilliant (or shitty) ideas simply isn’t a real business anymore. Sorry, advertising.

It seems like we are heading towards a time where everyone in the creative industry is going to be a ‘entrepreneur’ do to extreme lack of stability. Good news is once you’re out of agency corporate lock
down your life appreciation scales up 1000% - harder news is, you have to define your value without the shield (and temporary paycheck) of a crap agency.
Totally - it’s broken. If we all feel we have to fend for ourselves, it’s the system that’s broken, not us.
15 years you should be able to go freelance. Pick and choose your jobs (in a good economy)
