Hi fishes! I volunteer with The Art of Good, a creative collective helping small businesses affected by the pandemic. They are seeking a little help from a media professional. Need an SEM POV for a small business looking to change their name and relaunch their brand. This is non-paid. More about giving back while in-between gigs. :) If you can help out or want to learn more, please reach out to me via LinkedIN. Thank you!! www.linkedin.com/in/karenkohn/

Ew—you do this mid session? Gain some professionalism.
Creatives don’t like being treated like disposable resources, extend that courtesy to your mixer too.
The question is based on professionalism and how to deal with people who have little patience and roll their eyes at everything you ask them to try.
OP, please … “sound kid” is the preferred nomenclature.

I think “Sound Bitch” and “Deck Monkey” both work too.

Is the “sound girl” a literal child? Be gentle with your feedback. They’re impressionable.

Actually you should let the producers work that out so:
1) you as creative and the new audio engineer can create together
2) the project timing and cost doesn’t go off the rails
3) the relationship with the audio company isn’t ruined
4) you don’t get the reputation for being the ACD no one wants to work with
I’ve never heard of this happening.
I wanted to once. On a complicated mix that required ADR and a ton of finesse. The sound was horrible and only getting worse. So I shot an email to the producer, asked that we discreetly redo the session with my original pick, and then just let the hack finish without any more pushing or angst.
