I’ve put myself up for L4 promo this cycle. Assuming I get it, what would be the best next steps to optimize for long-term growth/TC?
My understanding is that L5->L6 is extremely painful at Google. It may be easier to leave for a handful of years and gain managerial experience before returning.
L4->L5 is less challenging; however, I’m under the impression I can do this quicker at another company (if I leave after being freshly promo’d) AND get higher TC.

If you stay near to office location then worth a try. Otherwise attend more interviews, if you have the energy. Then use TCS's offer to counter for 20 % hike on it.
Mind Performance bonus in TCS depends on 3 factors I.e., your WFO Index Monthly >85% + Deployment Index + Unit/Account Performance.
If you are offered C3B then it is pretty sure that you will see deductions each quarter in your performance bonus.
Even grade lower than C3B are suffering in TCS due to the policy of performance bonus.
So less than 20 percent change to the fixed part. I would have negotiated to bulk up the fixed part and reduce monthly performance / yearly bonus and retention bonus. ATB!
there is a trap in this offer. so the variable part in your salary itself is 9 la nears-bouts. so fixed is 28.7
