My role was just eliminated, and I need to replace it quickly. I have a solid lead on a new job but based on the job description I think it’s gonna be a lot less than I was making. Alright so there’s a thing called reclaim my status. If you had a reason why you lost status in the last year or two like COVID, baby, new job, etc. You need to submit some basic documentation and they give you that status for 3 months with a DRASTICALLY lower threshold to make the status permanent and even higher tiers are much easier to obtain during those 3 months. I currently work as a civil engineer/project manager for a county government. I recently applied to a private consulting firm and they are now working on an offer package to send over.

While I'd like to jump to the private side for several reasons (higher salary my #1), with the current macro economic uncertainties, I have some concern making the switch from a (generally) stable government job to a less stable (?) private company.
