Thank you for answering all my questions regarding the position and benefits.

I am excited for this project Engineer position with (company name) and know I will learn and grow with it. However, I am uncomfortable with the compensation of $80,500/yr. Based on my skills and experience, the position duties, the current job market, and relocating to (state), I am looking for closer to $91,000 with a sign-on bonus of $10,000.

Thought my employer would cut my 401k contribution to exactly meet the $19.5k limit, but looking at my paycheck now, and the portion over $19.5K went to ‘after tax 401k’. Is contributing after tax to the 401k a good idea in general? We already max out two 401ks, two back door roths, an HSA, and contribute to after tax brokerage. TIA!

So I’m thinking of taking a pharmacy tech course at my local community college. I already work in healthcare on the admin side (authorizations, front desk etc) & looking to get a certification that’s quick & don’t have to go back to school. How is it being a tech in the hospital setting? What other paths are there for techs? How much can you make? Or are there any other short certifications that would make more money?

I’ve got 60k in cash (just received my year end bonus and my exit package) 200k in 401k and 10k in stock. Long term goal to save 150k down payment for my first home. I’m interviewing for a full-time contractor role and I’m trying to determine an appropriate pay range. To make it easy, let’s just assume a market salary for a FTE would be $100,000 annually. How much of a premium should be added given that it’s a contract role? In addition to having to pay an extra 15.3% taxes, I’d be missing out on the company benefits (they offer full time employees: equity, computers, insurance, 4 weeks holiday, and money towards learning/development…and no 401k).

I have a BS in Kinesiology and an MBA in Healthcare Administration and have worked in neuro clinical testing for 17 years.
