Hello Fishes, Any idea what does Career level DM means in Deloitte India (Not USI) ? I have been offered a Senior Consultant role in SAP technology and the offer letter says it's at career level - DM. And if DM means Deputy Manager and then will my next promotion will be to a Manager or means something else ? How many such levels are their for a Senior Consultant, there ? Deloitte Deloitte India

I personally would pick SKP over Accenture.
For people that say they’ve never heard of them, just because not everyone has heard of Koeinigsegg, doesn’t mean Ford is better than them. Lol.
Same.
I personally would go SKP. Pretty well respected and known around mbb and t2 imo
i would say SKP is significantly more “prestigious” than ACN for people who are really privy to the consulting industry……… but yeah many wouldn’t know what SKP is and also if im not mistaken SKP pay is very bad
So as someone who has worked at both - SKP is great at the lower levels you are going to build your technical skills and promotions are quicker. Great for exiting and b-school - however comp will be lower. Accenture strategy does have better brand recognition and a more diverse experiences. However you maybe stuck on project that’s you have no interest in or projects that are more consulting/Pmo style. If you like pricing and growth go for skp/ if you want diverse experiences go to ACN
First Congrats on both the offers! Definitely a good problem to have. I can speak to a few of these:
Interesting project work: we focus exclusively on top line work ie how do I go revenue profitably - this often invokes understand and analyzing competitive advantages, analyzing competitive moves, and heavily analytical work including financial modeling.
People and culture: worked at numerous place, absolutely love it here. Most consultants are down to earth, collaborative and supportive, and incredibly smart and driven. Heavy international focus.
Exits: seen an entire spectrum - from PE shops to heavy on tech
MBA: don’t hold me to this but o believe we sponsor at least half or something. The work we do is very quantitative and analytical in nature which helps you stand out more vs process consulting which a lot of firms do.
General Atlantic, OpenView, Serent come to mind immediately - there are a few more out of the London office
I’ve worked at both as well. I’ve found that at SKP you have smaller teams and therefore better exposure to really senior clients (all of mine are generally speaking SVP, GM and C-suite) vs. at ACN-S you’re on small-ish teams part of larger programs. SKP is purely a growth strategy and pricing shop, and you service much more interesting clients (PEs, VCs, unicorns, and the F500) and solve for more interesting problems. That being said, SKP is much more traditional than ACN-S, with the folks you encounter less creatively inclined than what I’ve seen with ACN-S given the breadth of service lines at ACN.
SKP is a leader in pricing strategy work. I would love to solely focus on this type of work. But that is my preference.
ACN will offer much more variety in terms of projects, very diverse group, sponsored MBA
Both are good offers so it comes down to what you’re looking for in terms of career and personal goals. Feel free to DM if you have questions.
p.s. I’m a Duke alum
If you want to stay in consulting for your career and not pivot outside of it, then SKP, but if you want to do it for a few years and get out, the broader population is going to know Accenture way more frequently through resume and recruiting process for potentially future jobs. My own opinion, not that it’s right or wrong
Well, OP - what did you pick?
Accenture 100%
Went to a T7 MBA and they fully covered it this is only for Accenture Strategy employees.
Never heard of STK so can’t comment on how they compare but our starting salary is 100k for fresh out of university and 175k for fresh out of MBA
WLB is amazing depending on tribe I personally work 20-40 hours a week as a Manager and 50-60 during days leading up to a major deliverable
Utopia
Only have good things to say about ACN Strategy! Diverse work, reasonable WLB, good people. Some good exits too, from moving to the MBBs to Tech - the entire spectrum.
Not familiar with SKP - so can’t comment there.
Both great offers. Have friends at both and not a ton of negative reviews really. I believe ACN does a rotation program for new strategy folks though so that can either interest you or rub you the wrong way depending on your career aspirations.
SKP I've heard a lot of good about. If they'll match or come close I think I'd probably choose them because I have more of an interest in growth work vs rotating through industries.
Congratulations for making the most of your education and having joined SKP recently here are some lessons learned:
1) Just like when Alice in Wonderland asks the cat which way she should take it doesn’t really matter what the answer is if you don’t have a destination in mind. Where do you want to be in 18-24 months? (Building your foundation)
2) Now you compare the offers on the table and most applicants look at it rationally (salary, brand, location, perks etc). I called current employees in the “future” team to get the company culture facts right.
If your values don’t fit with the culture forget the rest. (Build your personal brand)
3) Learning is a lifelong exercise and here is where the real question comes: who will be your mentor? Getting this right is the magic sauce Jack Ma shared to university graduates: https://youtu.be/MwixREUJOI0
The rest is out of your control and be prepared to pivot many times.
Last but not least: it sounds like there is no option #3 right now so you may want to consult your friends at Duke or mentors that these two options are aligned with what you love doing best
Wishing you nothing but success
