On Monday, after just five months in my role, I was laid off from my job at a tech company in the food delivery space. During the call with my manager and HR rep, I understood that I would be paid through the 15th. If I sign the severance agreement, I’ll receive an additional two weeks of pay. I took notes and asked questions for clarity, but yesterday I received a payment for about half my paycheck (i.e. not through 15th!). Tips for negotiating the severance package? Any chance for more cash?

Hi All, I fell victim to the recent tech layoffs in July when our startup had its funding pulled mid-series B. I was let go without severance and am starting to panic because sending out resumes in this job market feels like screaming into the void. For reference, my last role was Director of Comms at a consumer health tech brand, 12 yoe total (+6 PR agency) tc $160k.

I did something with a new associate that works on my projects during our last work event. We live 5 mins away and took the same Uber. When it was time for me to leave the Uber, we hugged goodbye and idk what got into us, we both gave each other that look and next thing you know we are at my apartment. We were not drunk & it was an amazing night. He has been texting me since but I told him I needed a break from him.. I am worried now to death that I will be fired. Should I just quit??

I was laid off in May and been on the job hunt for 4 months. Finally received a offer. Then a week later another offer. I was working remotely for the past year & I’m struggling w/ the idea of being onsite. Neither job is on my desired career path, my goal is people operations/HR operations.
Offer 1: Payroll Admin, on-site. 72k, 216 hrs PTO
Offer 2: HR Payroll Admin, Remote. 62.5K + 6k sign on bonus, 70k after 6 months, 144 hrs PTO

Question for anyone who was laid off but found a new job:

If you request unemployment between the offer and starting, do you not receive the benefit? Worried about stating I've received an offer and that I'm no longer looking, though my new employer is the one having me wait a few weeks.

Should I continue in startup TA/Recruiting or go back to agency and build out my own business? What has more future stability given the recent news in tech layoffs?

Is it possible to not put a two-month job on my resume? (I worked at the firm for two months and then got fired along with some other people because of the boss) . Will background check discover this?

Parents who have or have had a baby. How was the first year or two for you? Was it awesome, was it terrible, did it change your relationship with your partner? Did you regret it, did you want out? I've heard that having a baby can really change things between you and your partner and that a lot of marriages fall apart at that point. Just interested in stories and feedback.

Also curious if one partner kind of pressured the other into having a child/was driving force in wanting the baby.

Okay so I’m frustrated and would appreciate any insight to the scenario below.

HR provides an initial offer.
I asked to elaborate on complete benefits package ie conferences, CEU reimbursement (no negotiation yet)
She needs to ask the CEO (not sure why she couldn’t ask the senior HR manager)
I state my salary expectations based on research, experience, education.
She has to talk to the CEO again to find out what is negotiable within the overall package
What’s going on? Ur job is to negotiate?
