I have an interview coming up for a role that would clearly be a better long-term path, but I am worried about salary because the posting listed a wide range and I know I tend to answer too cautiously when compensation comes up. At what point in the process are people being direct about the number they actually need?

You can also give a range. Start with just above your bottom number, but make sure you are taking into consideration your experience and ask for what works for you.

I always make sure to ask on the first call what the range for the role is. That will help you narrow down what kind of salary you are actually looking at. Then you can decide whether or not you want to continue in the process.

Hi
I have received an offer from a company and I'm in the second stage of interviews with another company. I am very interested to see if I could make it through for the second company. So can I accept the offer from first company and then if second one also sends an offer then let the first company know I would like to reject? Also i am on H1B visa. Should I be concerned with that?
