I have been in discussions with my firm's management to (1) make partner, and (2) open and head up a new office in my home country in the next 1-2 years.

Anything reasonable I can ask for?

I am thinking of asking for my remuneration to continue to be in USD for starters.

Would it be normal practice to ask to skip an equity lockstep grade for taking on the managing of an office?

Things I have seen: COLA (sometimes separate housing allowance), private school tuition (if you have kids), USD remuneration (as you noted) and reimbursement for fees to CPA handling your tax filings.

100% agree with P1 on requesting a paid trip(s) home, especially if you have kids who will be uprooted.

Ask for tax equalization.

Does anyone remember flat, round water bottles from the early 1990s? Like for school kids? They had some kind of ice pack that you would freeze and it kept your water cool. And then you would squeeze it to drink?
I think they came in neon colors?
All the cool kids had one. Not me though 😏.

Leaving my current job for a career pivot. Current job has been challenging to say the least and senior management never hears what others have to say. Employment is an at will state.
Senior leadership is so unforgiving that I fear by giving notice, I’ll be asked to leave and lose out on two weeks pay.
Thoughts and feedback on not giving notice or reducing the typical two weeks?
Thank you!

Accenture India Employees - (1) How much does job location matter in getting good projects for a fresher(ASE- Lvl 12) ?

I am currently in Entry Level Pool-Bangalore and will be 'Soft Locked' to Bench in a month's time. I wish to change my job location to either Indore in MP(top priority) or to Pune(MH).

(2) Should I wait till I get a project in Bangalore and then change location only if WFH gets over (if that is possible) or change it right now ?
(3) Any idea till when WFH will last? Thanks 🙏

I’m curious. What would you say is the best industry / sector for…1. WLB, 2. Great people / team, 3. Exit opp’s., and 4. Overall (mix of the above). Goes without saying the obvious “it depends on office, team, project, client, etc.” So this is an ask for general observations.

Hi Everyone, Started my career in government 5 years ago working in an operational role, then focussed on HR for 3 years working my way up to a middle manager role in HR as a business partner and completed my Level 7 CIPD. People who don’t submit their time daily, how do you remember what you did and for how long? What questions should senior associates be asking to get a better assessment of partnership prospects? For context, I’m eligible this year as an 8th year, but it’s more common to make it around years 10-11 at my firm (only equity partners), and I’m trying to determine whether to stick around or lateral before I’m too senior. I’m in a smaller group that historically promotes only one new partner every few years, and there are several others also eligible. Any questions I should avoid asking?

Working on some law firm applications tonight and it sucks that I know that I am so capable and have a strong work ethic but firms can’t see beyond grades or the fact that I didn’t go to a t14 law school or prestigious undergrad. I’ve worked twice as hard and feel like I’ve barely even gotten half as much. It’s discouraging sometimes especially because I worked so hard with pretty much no guidance (first gen, poc, low-income) to get into college and do well and then get into a t30 law school

Working 50-60h weeks on average doesn’t help your dating life though, and who would want to date someone with no family anyway

From a vault ranking perspective, is it safe to assume V100 is all sweatshop big law? Reason I ask is because I want to lateral but not to a gunning big law firm — want to stay in big law but not at the ones at the top of the food chain like I am now. Want some sort of work life balance and wondering if the “lower ranked” big law firms offer this? Could just be my fantasy though…
