Be reasonable, depending on the role. Find the market ranges, compare with the area, and put yourself in the best position to be at the upper end of them. Telling them about your experience and past accomplishments. Be flexible on negotiations where you can be.
That’s an issue, too. You have to downgrade a lot of your experience, or else companies are scared they’ll have to pay you adequately. I do not envy the traffic. My commute is terrible right now. Hoping the market turns around for all of us, it’s just very hard out there, no matter what.
I think it's going to be important to state clearly that you're willing to take a lower salary for the right fit. I'm sure a lot of potential employers consider you overqualified because they can't afford to match your previous salary. Keep at it! This market is tough to say the least.
