I have my on-site tomorrow for a role that’s a great fit and I just received word that I will have an offer in hand for another company on Monday. The recruiter said they are asking for a response within 48 hrs of me getting the written offer. Is there any chance at all that Google would make a decision by next Wednesday if I conveyed my situation (even if pending HC approval)? I know things tend to move slow but figured I’d get some perspectives from the group here. TIA

Any advice on how to request a 20% raise? This is my first career out of college. I signed my offer letter knowing that I was being underpaid by 10%, as per the posted position salary. My 1-year appraisal is close and I would like to request 20% based on an increased workload; I would also like to make up for being underpaid my first year.

My dilemma: Many companies only pay up to a 4% raise. However, that will not cover much in this economy, and I would still be still underpaid.

He did know her and was excited to hear I’d applied for the position, and he actually reached out to her on my behalf. Relatively new partner here. Recently, I took my eye off the ball of a small closing (assuming, incorrectly, that the senior associate was on top of things), and the client became openly frustrated with us. It all ended up fine, but I never directly apologized. (I am also a woman and hyper aware of the female tendency to over-apologize.)
