For more context, really disliking current work, so 12 more months seems really daunting. Also unhappy with current pay. Looking to exit into product management /product strategy. FAANG would be ideal. All previous projects have been technology implementations, and I’m working to figure out the right spin to pose this experience and relate it to PM
Definitely wait another year. No matter where you go, it's almost certain that title progression will be much slower than D. Sticking it out one year / 1.5 years could save you 3 or 4 in industry. However if you're miserable, you should go nothing is worth hating work.
Yeah, 9/10 miserable right now because of the people, not work itself. Title progression might be faster at D. But I could theoretically get a 30% bump leaving to industry now and any equity /RSU as part of the offer would also grow. Conversely, would waiting a year for SC, then jumping ship, significantly increase chances of opening up opportunities with equivalent or greater pay bump and title progression?
I’ve personally found that industry roles don’t particularly care about titles in consulting firms because they aren’t familiar with them. I went from consultant to senior consultant and have not received any offers for a greater pay bump. It also takes a long time to find the right fit so I would stare the search now
