I recently sign a lease. The apartment will put my security deposit into an interest-bearing account and requires me to fill out a form W9. I will join EY this June and just wondering if this is ok in terms of the independence rule. I guess the apartment will put my deposit in some sort of funds. Anyone with EY has experience? Reading the independence brochure, looks like it does not specify something related to this scenario but just wanted to confirm . TIA!

Has anyone moved away from NY and successfully resigned from the NY bar? What are the consequences if you just don’t pay? The requirements are insane to officially “resign” - draft a motion, pay a fee, send proof of service - I honestly do not know what this nonsense means, I’m not a litigator for a reason. About 3 years ago I decided to test the job market and realized I was being paid 20% less than I could get elsewhere. When I told my boss I was quitting they secured me a 30% raise to keep me at the firm. Since then my raises have been pretty meager and looking around it seems like I could get a dramatic raise by leaving. Is this just how things are? Hello everyone, I am currently 9 months into my first job after graduating with a BCom. I am currently working at KPMG and working towards my CPA. Only issue is I hate it have very little interest in accounting. I have seriously been considering pivoting towards a career in data and analytics by perusing a masters in data analytics or data science. Most people around me strongly encourage me to finish my CPA but I feel like it will add little to no value to a career in analytics. Thoughts?
