Sounds pretty dumb.
I think it depends on where you live and what your career ambitions are. I wouldn't say someone should quit immediately upon 5 years, if they're not over 100k, you could hit that at 6 years, or you could be at 95k and still be successful in your role. I guess I just don't think it's so cut and dry.
Depends on the area I suppose? $100k hits differently in Chicago vs Detroit vs LA vs NY.
In LA you might be able to afford your own apartment. In Detroit you can own a 2br house. YMMV.
As an analyst it makes me cringe to hear "weellll....it depends....." ...... But.... to be fair......it depends .😶
What P1 said is right. It's unlikely you'll make 100K in your first 5 years in advertising in Detroit or Minneapolis, but I imagine it's much more attainable in NYC or LA.
Idk, i’m remote but I just passed 100k on my 3 year work anniversary, in Detroit.
Not really. I know a lot of pretty successful people in the business who probably didn’t clear 100k/year until after year 5.
Probably. I started in the industry in 2006 at $40k and was making $95k by 2009 (NYC). After that I left advertising for several years then was freelancing on and off, so I didn’t have a salary again until many years later.
