If they allowed themselves to reflect on how much of their life they’ve already wasted working and doing nothing else, the grief would be crushing. They brag about being toxic to protect themselves from realizing the truth of that pain.

Bwahaha, if you need to work that many hours, you obviously aren’t valuable enough to charge a higher billable rate. Sounds like sweatshop where they have to bill so many hours to make up for low rates.
I dunno. The firms where I worked the most hours also had the highest billable rates. More money, more expectations.

He clearly feels like he works very hard and that is a source of pride for him. Let him live the life he wants. Even if that would be a miserable life for you, he did you a favor by being open and honest about his own views so you can now be sure it’s not the right place for you.
