I interviewed for a sales role where the recruiter loved my numbers, but the hiring manager kept focusing on whether I “fit the culture.” Nothing specific, just a feeling. I didn't get the job...How do I demonstrate culture fit without turning into a personality performance?

Honestly, I sometimes wonder if "culture fit" is a buzzword for a specific demographic they are looking for. And there's nothing you can really do about lightly potentially discriminatory practices. Just be yourself and you'll be the right candidate for the right job.

I have seen “culture fit” used as a vague filter

Just act like a normal person. If they want a trained seal who vomits out company propaganda more than they want competence and ability, you shouldn't want to work there. Those workplaces are draining and beyond toxic.

I feel this strongly. I want to sell well, not perform a personality role all day.

I have 3 years experience being an account manager in a large brokerage. I got promoted to be a supervisor to a small team of account managers and started at $77k and have now increased to $83k 6 months later. Does this sound fair based on my 4 years experience in the field or am I underselling myself?

Hi All,

Anyone here working in Benchmarking? Had a few Questions? TIA

Fellow enterprise tech sales fish, I’m interested to hear your perspective. I’ve been in a rut lately and seriously considering leaving sales. I think it’s primarily fueled by one thing:
After a 6 mo cycle I closed a large deal (4x the average deal size) prior to receiving delayed 2022 comp plans. The deal counts as a 2022 deal. On last years comp plan it would’ve paid out at 10%. This year it pays out at a measly 4%.

How do you/have you navigated your way through and out of these situations?
