I interviewed with a firm a little over a month ago. Two rounds. I liked everyone I met and I thought everything went well. Completed some due diligence stuff. However, a month have passed since my last interview and apparently the firm is still going through the interview process, but they haven’t formally rejected me. I have never seen such lengthy process. By this time, I have been already rejected. This is for a lateral position. Has anyone experienced a similar situation?

Working as an analyst in Energy Practice assisting case teams with renewables, utilities, O&G, digital strategy. Net experience 2 years! Want to go for higher studies.

Should I
1. Go for technical masters? (if yes, do recommended some good courses)
2. Wait to gain enough experience for a MBA in US/EU

I interviewed at a law firm and had my final round last Friday. The Tuesday afterward, I got a call from the recruiter saying the firm won’t have a decision for another week. I believe they’re interviewing other candidates. Does that make me second or third choice? And does the fact that I’m working with a recruiter hurt my chances of being selected due to the commission? Should I hold out for the offer or is 1+ week a sign that I won’t be selected?

In discussions to make a lateral move. Is there any way I can negotiate higher pay outside the fixed bands? Higher annual bonus, signing bonus? I assume chances are low but worth trying.

They told me to focus on contract management, which I have been doing for the past year. Curious if anyone else is or has been in the same boat. I started as an assistant at an entertainment law firm prior to passing the bar. Upon passing, the partner told me they would hire an assistant for me since I now became an associate. I received an offer from a boutique litigation firm and a large law firm on the same day! I want to take a little time to consider both. What’s the typical time frame to respond?

I have an offer for $130k for a senior attorney position in a boutique L&E firm. Also have a recruiter who thinks she can get me into another for $150-170k. Both are more than I’ve ever made (Denver, 17 yrs of experience but completely different practice areas). Any tips for countering the $130k offer for more using the other potential offer while not risking a complete withdrawal of the current offer? I’ve never been in a position to bargain my starting salary so this is all very new to me.

Anyone have tips on writing a cover letter without referring to anything in the resume?
