It happens more often than you think. Settlements are often handled by the in-house counsel. Sometimes it is handled by the managing in-house counsel, rather than the one overseeing the details of the case. It can take a few days to trickle through the layers to the Associates. Legal issues can be bad for sales (B2B much more than B2C), so Sales and Marketing can be really quick about publishing news of settlements, so customers won’t consider it a risk and reason to buy elsewhere.
That completely makes sense. Still would not take away the shock value for me haha.
