I would let that history lie. No need to remind them why they doubted you. You may have really specific experience they’re looking for, or it might be a different recruiter, a different hiring manager… who knows! But I do think it’s worth some really good follow-up questions to understand truly what they’re looking for beyond a general level of hire.
Been rejected doesn’t mean they think you were bad, just that they thought someone else was a better fit. It happened with me at mother, met the cco twice. It didn’t happened at first. She remembered me at the second time I got an offer.
Also, seems agencies are experiencing lots of turnover due to disillusioned employees moving around. They may just need to recruit hard and get bodies in those roles. If it’s a good move for you with a salary bump, don’t worry about the past interviews. Just be kind and respectful in every interaction even if you leave your agency. Advertising is a small town and people jump around a lot.
There was an agency I was dying to work for that rejected me at a mid level position for not having enough experience. The next year I interviewed there with another team and was hired at the senior level. You’re already on their radar which is great. Sometimes the stars need to align and you’re in the right time at the right place for the right title and salary.
I thinks it’s always good to let them know you have interviewed before and who you met the last time. That said I wouldn’t get into the rejection. Just start fresh and kill the interviews.
Start over and kill it! Don’t bring up the past. That’s a negative, and all you want to do is show is your positivity.
My main concern is potentially meeting with the same people again. I’ve met the CCO, do I pretend not to know him?
Not at all. Greet him like you've met him before. Answer how you've been. They might remember you but not remember the exact context.
