I just hit my number for FIRE at 34, but I have absolutely no idea what to do with my life now. I’ve spent the last decade obsessed with work. My friends are all still grindingl. I’m debating staying for one more year just to pad the travel budget, but I know that’s a slippery slope. For those who hit their financial goals early, did you actually quit or did you just find a lower stakes role?

As a late bloomer, and someone who was working long before FIRE became a thing, I can't relate to this directly. I can tell you...
Life is long, and there is a lot of time on a random Tuesday if you do not have something (passions and hobbies, etc.) to keep you busy.
I have a client who hit their goal around 40 and started their own business that they were wanting to do for years. Very happy, even though it is taking awhile for it to become profitable.
I have another who seems to be developing a drinking habit because he had no plans or hobbies.
Think of it this way, you can now do whatever it is you WANT to do. I would not quit my job until I had a plan for how you want to spend your time.
Idle hands and all that.

What was your goal number?

Congrats! My plan once I reach that goal would me just to travel the world and own franchises that interest me. That way, I can choose when to help out as needed and keep busy

Interview tomorrow for a tax associate opening at RSM. Been working in a mid-size city (different firm) that is about 70 minutes from this new home office in a larger metro. How flexible is WFH or dual model going forward post Covid? Am interested in this position and going to tax, but not be able to relocate for family reasons. Don’t want to drive 700 miles per week M-F. What will dual model be like going forward? 1-2 times week, 4-5 month? Seems like tax was more flexible than audit pre-Covid

Curious what’s a fair salary in MA? Was just told that there is likely not going to be a chance for a raise during my upcoming performance review due to my salary already being “above average for the industry” based on my employer’s questionable research. I’ve been with the company 8.5 years & am the only one in my role, which they can’t operate without. I execute tasks from two investment advisors and two financial planners - they make the decisions of what should happen & I make it happen.

Currently a Wealth Advisor for Citi but I honestly hate it here with a passion it’s the worst company I’ve ever worked for in my life and I’ve been in Wealth Management in the banking channel for over a decade. Series 7, Series 63, Life, CFP, ChFC, and soon to have my MBA with a focus in Mergers & Acquisitions. I’m look to enter another area of Finance at this point instead of starting over somewhere else from scratch, but not sure what direction to go. Interested in Investment Banking or M&A.

I am a registered sales assistant which means I have my series 7. I also have the 63 and my Life & Health license. I was a financial advisor but the role is commission only so I decided to take a role as an assistant for some time to learn etc. I really like my role, but I only make 32k a year and after taxes I only take home about 25k. I have a gut feeling that I’m not being paid market value but it’s tough to find comparable salaries. Do you think $15.38/hr is a fair wage in this case?

User experience mgr salary? I support six product teams and eight reports. 20+ years experience

I have an offer and want to negotiate

1. London base salary but I have to absorb all the expenses (train + stay)
I am thinking to negotiate to

2. home base salary and have my expenses paid for

I know that's depends on the amount I have to travel (and potentially stay) but at the moment this is unknown. Past 8 months was just twice a month + 2 nights stay.

The only thing I know is it won't be every week, the return trian ticket is about £80-100, depends I could plan ahead.
