I haven't used a single thing I learned in my Advanced Accounting class in the last five years of my professional life. My entire day is just Excel formulas, accruals, and chasing down people who don't know how to submit an expense report. The CPA exam is completely disconnected from the actual reality of being a corporate accountant. Is anyone else worried that thei technical skills are becoming irrelevant?

School and CPA exam are just teaching you the accountant’s grammar. Grammar doesn’t provide you with the questions and answers, it only teaches you the right way to read and write. The questions and answers you have to figure out yourself. That’s what you are getting paid for.

Republicans... in hindsight, do you think it was a political miscalculation to have Pence on the ticket? Seems to me it would have been advantageous to have someone firmly in the Trump camp - like Alex Jones - as his VP to galvanize the base and put more daylight between the Trump ticket and Biden’s mainline political position. Thoughts?

I’m appearing for data scientist interview and curious to know more about the interview format. It’s an hour long call and have to code in Google Doc.
Did anyone recently appear for similar role? What was the interview format like? Was it algo focused or mostly about statistics?

There is an opportunity that I’m currently interviewing for that is very interesting to me. I’m interviewing two other places but I’m not responding to LinkedIn emails for other positions. The other positions don’t interest me as much. On one hand I don’t want to waste time prepping for all positions and rather put that time only for the ones that I have going on, on the other hand I feel like what is that falls through. Wondering if I’m making the right choice
