Hi Londoners ,
Moving in from outside UK.
Looking out for some areas in west / NW London where one can live with an infant on max 1400£ rental while requiring one partner to travel to Central occasionally for work and the other person 3 days a week to LHR.
Some Qns:
1) Will 1 Bedroom be too cramped for the infant to grow up? Should I raise budget?
2) I prefer being in family /childcare friendly areas. Had Harrow, Acton in mind . Are they good for my budget or any other suggestions?

Any thoughts on BNP M&A in nyc

Is it a common exit opp? No, not really. But that doesn’t mean it’s not possible. Firms have to pay thousands in training to make sure their analysts understand accounting, which your background would help reduce concerns of. Also banks are losing a ton of people too, so now is the time to shoot your shot.
But you’re going to have to put in a fair amount of work after hours to convince them it’s really what you want to do. Work on your financial modeling. Come up with several stock picks (ideally names that are both in the sector the group covers and a little off the radar e.g. not AAPL) and have tangible reasons for why the market is wrong now and what the future catalyst for movement might be. ER is still a ton of work, but if you love stocks it’s 1000% better than audit.
I agree. I would add, if this a path you want to pursue, start networking early. Yes, it’s easier to get interviews with these mass exodus of people, as firms are willing to look at non traditional candidates, but that doesn’t mean that the best firms are short on applicants. Network and get people that will vouch for you, it’s never a bad idea to have people in your corner to give a you a step up on the competition.
It’s unlikely especially a large/reputable firms. Slightly better luck at small/mm.
Would you hire an audit person into your equity research department? Probably not.

If you have a CFA maybe. Otherwise might be easier to do masters in finance or mba.
