I just realized that my highly niche experience in ASC 740 (Tax Provisions) is making me completely un-hirable for general Finance Manager tracks. I have a deep understanding of core corporate cash flow and financial statements. Recruiters look at my $130k salary requirements, realize I command a premium in tax, but refuse to let me leverage that compensation into an FP&A or operational role. Have any of you successfully rebranded as general finance leaders, or do you have to take a step back in pay to break out?

What are the designation levels in the major financial institutions? It's confusing because some consider VP and SVP more senior than a Director, and some have SVP one level lower than a Director like in Citi. If you know the levels of whichever org you work for, please comment on this post. For example in Standard Chartered:
it's Associate, Associate Director, Director, Executive Director, Managing Director (3 levels).

So after two weeks of waiting (and giving up on the idea of getting the job really), the recruiter got back to me.

They said due to month-end and quarter-end close they were busy and couldn’t get back to me as quickly for a “good update”.

The recruiter said the CFO enjoyed our call, she, the CFO, will call me next week directly to “discuss some final things”.
