I just searched the opportunities for tax and it’s not looking good. Other than the IRS or government which has a decent pay and a great work live balance, are there other opportunities as a tax associate which I can use? I’m trying to get rid of this busy season.

Red rover red rover come on over

Honestly if you can hang in there until manager or senior (at a big firm specialized group) the irs and industry opportunities will open up , will be better etc

I think cpa is required if you’re going for gs 13 and 14. They also will do their best to match your salary or get close to what you’re making now. They can’t go above the range for that step.

I don’t know what level you can get in at the IRS but never hurts to try.

Those of you who have left consulting for Program/Project Management at tech companies (not Product), what do you think of the switch? Have heard anecdotally that work can be uninteresting and career progression suspect, but seems like a very chill, high paying exit. Does this differ greatly if it is technical PM? Would love to hear thoughts.

About to get promoted at PwC from Associate to Senior Associate (mgmt consulting). I interviewed at Deloitte for a Consultant position, but they’re potentially giving me an offer for BA. I’d essentially be holding out on the promo until next promo cycle. Usually, I’d understand hiring at a level below for higher levels but I feel like doing a 3rd year as a junior might not be the best decision. Should I push HR for Consultant level? I haven’t gotten the official offer letter yet, just verbal.

Final round! Panel interview w an assignment to present some ideas on how to increase customers for 1 of 5 key audience segments.
I’m most familiar with 1 as it’s the audience I work with at current job. Not enough info/experience with other 2 segments. Remaining segments I know enough but not as confidently.

Will it look like I took the easy way out if I chose my segment? They know it’s my current audience and has been for 8 yrs. Would love to hear your thoughts!
