I just wrapped up a busy season for a calendar-year client and am currently staffed on a second busy season for a 3/31 filer that will run through Memorial Day. If I receive an FDD offer next week, would it be possible to delay the start date until 6/1?

I am doing a back door Roth IRA through Vanguard and while everything makes sense to me, I am unsure if an additional $6000 be invested for a non working spouse. We satisfy the criteria but two questions - 1) Is this still valid I.e., $12k can be invested for 2021? And 2) Any insight into how this is done - Vanguard doesn’t let me add more than $6k as it’s above the individual limit. I tried searching the bowl for specific answers but wasn’t successful. Inputs appreciated.
