I keep getting interviews with the big names in NYC but I live in the Midwest. Do I need to move there to better my chances?

Ummmm yes. Is that not super clear from your interviews at this point? Most big places aren’t hiring remote anymore

likefunny

Salary needs to be worth the move. However, if layoffs hit? Are you ok staying in NYC. Most lease are 12-24 months.

What big names?

VML’s home office is in KC. It could just be the HR rep is in NYC.

Some will hire remote depending on position. They also may pay relocation. VML has offices all over US too. At time I interviewed I could have picked an office. You def should ask! Good design is known to come from other cities, among many roles. I don’t think moving first is wise financially - if you’re already landing interviews.

Thread carefully at VML.

I wouldn’t move to any WPP agency for now since they feel like a layoff pitfall.

At least be willing to move...

also apply for their midwest offices

Hi All,
Good day!

I'm planning to search for a job in foreign countries but I have some questions in my mind...
1. What would be my minimum salary
Please be noted that I'm spending 1.5L -1.8L pm for my family expenditures (family of 2) with the similar way of expenditure how much should I earn?
2. Which country would provide better opportunities to Bigdata Engineer?
3. Is it better to stay in India with 21LPA or should I consider relocation to other countries?

Thanks in Advance!!

SPHR exam- has anyone ever been “randomly selected” for an application audit? This just happened to me and the sheer amount of effort that is going to go into collecting all the documents almost makes me not want to follow through. Since I didn’t finish undergrad, they’re asking for a copy of my high school diploma or transcript and that itself is going to be an absolute nightmare to get hold of. Guess I’m not really looking for a solution here, just venting.

I had a very positive experience interviewing with Amazon for an L5 Technical Writer role. I originally applied for a lower level writing role, ending up acing my Loop, and was passed on to speak to the hiring manager for the L5 role.

Given the positive tone of our conversation, I expect to receive an offer this week.

Can somebody tell me what kind of base salary/bonus/RSU ranges I should aim for? I'm transitioning to tech and have 10+ years of professional writing experience. PNW based.

I was recently offered a Zoom interview. The school had 10 interview slots for me to choose from. Three were one day this week and the rest are next week. I chose the first time slot available. Should I have waited until one of the last slots so I was fresher on their mind when choosing a candidate? I am just sitting here stressing out until I here something. Also, do interviewers still appreciate a hand written thank you for the interview?

It’s hard to be motivated when rounds of layoffs happen and you see all your friends leave. But one thing that’s gotten me through all of this is working out. And when I say workout I mean the most pathetic, sad, barely completed beginner-level cardio dance routines. I’ve somehow forced myself to move while on lockdown and it’s somehow forced me to feel better. Whatever you’re doing, wherever you are: get up and move even if you don’t finish or end up going on a walk. Pls take care of yourself❤️

Has anyone ever worked at an agency in which the project management department was properly utilized? I traditionally was brought up in my career where PM type tasks were handled by lower level AMs. I have observed separating AM and PM tasks into two separate departments just causes communication issues and lazy account people. Account people should have a good understanding of how much effort and time goes into a project. Project Managers are missing a lot of context so blind leading blind.
