I may be able to do a short workcation in February or March in a warmer locale in the continental US. I live in the Midwest currently. Trip would be no more than 2-3 weeks.

Hotels and Airbnb are proving to be exceptionally costly in the places where I’m looking, like South FL, San Diego, Phoenix, or Austin. Are there other websites or tips you all suggest for doing this in a more cost-effective way?

You are literally going at the worst time. Supply is low because the snow birds who own most of the airbnb rentals are going to be in that location staying. The summers are way cheaper. That being said, on the gulf side of Florida there are non-hotel-chain places that allow you to rent a studio style apt. 1 bedroom with a kitchenette, usually a pool, with a much lower rate if you’re doing an 2-3 week stint. Idk about the other areas.

Totally fair — can’t change the laws of supply and demand. But, good tip!

Look for short-term sublets.

Look further north in FL, like Jacksonville.
Try the panhandle or head to Miss or Alabama.

I will sublet you my 1 br apartment in a luxury apartment building in downtown Orlando

Orlando and the surrounding areas have very affordable short term rentals. Check out Champions Gate and Reunion Resorts. Both offer condo and hotel room rentals in a resort like setting

San Diego is always going to be super expensive. Look at other locations such as Nevada (Reno//Vegas), Mississippi, Louisiana.

There are hardly more rentals in San Diego, we’re full!

Hi all, I am trying to DCA bi-weekly into Vanguard ETFs, (VO, VTI etc). It seems like Fidelity does not support auto buying of non-Fidelity ETFs. So I was wondering which of these options you think is best?

1. Open a Vanguard Invest account
2. Look for Fidelity ETFs that are similar to Vanguard ETFs
3. Use smaller brokerages like SoFi l, Robinhood etc.

I really do not want to manage nor be active. My goal is to log-in like once every 6 months.

Thank you all.

Help!! My bestfriend is doing two months abroad and was trying to fly into turkey when they told her she couldn't because her passport expired within three months.

She went to the US Embassay in Athens knowing she had a month left of traveling, and gave her an emergency passport and punched holes in her exsisting one. Now no country will let her in with her emergency passport.

Can her mom get her a passport in the US and ship it to her? Is there anyway around this?

Thank you!!

So supposed to head out of town for a long weekend with friends starting the evening of 4/21. My one friend and her son tested positive for Covid on 4/13 and have been sick. She says she is coming on our trip. On the following Thurs 4/28 I need to spend time with my 92 year old diabetic father. Do I go on this trip? I don’t think my friend has quarantined long enough to be sitting with 6 people driving in a van to our location unmasked as well as in the hotel room. Would you go on this trip?

Hi everyone,
I was hoping someone could give me some advice. I’ve been taking care of my extremely sick (literally on the verge of dying) dog. I work from home so it’s not too much of a nuisance but I feel distracted all day long and can hardly get anything done because I worry about my dog. I feel like I’d benefit from a day off or even half a day off but I’ve only been working for my firm for a month now, plus I have “discretionary time off.” Would it be okay for me to ask for a day off?
