I visit San Antonio often. I’ll be there next week. I have found lots of good people in Stone Oak area. There’s a couple of good gyms there that I go to and a great bar. Worth checking out!
Kennedy’s Irish pub
You can use the Meetup app to find groups with similar interests. Also look up events in the San Antonio Current calendar or MySA website. If you don't mind the drive you can look for events in Austin too. It's not far from here and it's good for weekend trips.
OK I’m sorry I’m sure you can find some thing a little bit better than a church or a martial arts studio. There’s plenty of parks in the city, get a bike, go out on the riding trails across the city, if you’re new to the area go visit the touristy location and see what the cities all about.
I’ve lived here a long while and I do love the culture of San Antonio and we’re getting ready to head into fiesta next month, go find yourself something good and go. I would suggest staying away from the oyster bake because it is wall-to-wall people. It will only intimidate you, find something that you like and check it out. There’s plenty of things to do across those two weeks. Good luck, you can do this.👍👍
Also depends on what you like to do
In my experience, two great ways of making friends are churches and martial arts classes.
You could try jiu jitsu at Rodrigo Pinheiro Brazilian jiu jitsu, it's a great place!
I'd recommend the church of Jesus Christ of latter-day saints too, an amazing place to make new friends. If you check their website, you can request a visit and the missionaries will come and tell you more about it.
Welcome to San Antonio!
What are your hobbies and interests? I'm into martial arts (Krav Maga) and I made some great friends when I signed up shortly after I relocated to the area. I find this is often easier because right off the bat, you know you have something in common.
We are a couple same age! we have a couple of group friends, you’re free to join them n our river trips or just going to try some food places. Currently pregnant so can’t really drink but generally we are active and we can also chill
I'm new to SA as well. What do you like to do and are you male or female?
There's an app called Meetup and you could join groups related to things that you like or are interested in. I used it when I first moved here and it helped a lot
Have you tried Bumble? It's a cool way to meet friends. We're in a digital age now. People don't just walk up to each other and talk anymore unfortuantely
I'm sure there are some Facebook groups for San Antonio transplants. You could connect with people that way. You'll find your crowd soon don't worry.
Have you joiined any of the local facebook groups? I would highly suggest meeting friends that way.
There are some FB groups that you can join.
I joined some hobby groups and sports group, I think that made a big difference. I don't think my friend group is as tight as ones from my hometown but it's still something1
What side of town are you on? That can really change your experience in this city.
CA1, where you live may not matter as much as where you go. No matter what side of town you live on getting out to the other sides of town is also very helpful for whatever kind of experience you want to have. Fiesta is coming and there’s plenty to do all over the city.
