What every other tech worker would say: cut throat culture also highly politicized. As you come in; sink or swim and a quarterly fight to keep out of the cutting board.
As a high level creative I can add: no creative culture, no grace in dialogue or interaction, low level creative workers. Fast is priority vs any type of quality. No conceptual thinking, no craft. No process to guard creatives/creative thinking. No interest in creative work. No clear chain of command or unified authority, company “pillars” weaponized against workers. Highly hierarchical.
Just reading GCD helps me cope a bit. Ty for sharing.
Totally get it and understand this is common.
Just wanted to counter that I'm in-house now and honestly hope to never go agency side again.
Lots of them may be deathly boring, but some brand-side roles can also be great.

Curious what distinguishes good from the bad
…so is it worth it or would you go back? and what’s the money difference? i have an in at amazon if i really want to. but my god the work.
I came into it wide eyed and with a date/plan to leave and yet I find myself some days questioning if I am able to keep doing it for another month.

Care to elaborate why?
Feel free to ask Qs if you have it. I don’t wanna give too much away but I was very senior in agencies and also worked in-house non tech.
I have a background in print and print production. Getting into agency was like stepping into Willy Wonka’s factory. I’d deal with the quirky scheduling lady over the chain smoking floor manager any day of the week.
I’m sorry creatively it’s far from ideal. In my POV, the days of amazing creative collaboration are gone - I don’t mean that there’s no good work out there currently but just the fun, the vibe 15, 20 years ago was different. It was fun! I accepted a long time ago to do fun & creative work on my own time, for me personally I couldn’t get that from work anymore. It was oddly liberating. If you’re blessed to have a steady paycheck, enjoy it, obviously work is work, & occasionally peek at open roles, something you connect with more might pop up & it won’t necessarily be agency side. Thanks for sharing.
I made the switch from creative agency to... Small tech I guess? Very happy at Reddit
Oh interesting! Reddit sound fun
Care to elaborate why?
i mean… isn’t there a saying about selling your soul to work for tech?
Hope to buy it back at the end of the journey here

What company are you at?
Are you at a FAANG or more of a start up scenario? I know many apple and google creatives that are very happy and comfy.
